CRC Press is a leading scientific publisher and, since the acquisition of Lewis Publishers, became a major publisher in the environmental and natural sciences too.
CRC was founded in 1913 to publish its flagship book, the Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, intended to help sell rubber laboratory aprons and designed to fit in the pocket. Nicknamed the ‘Rubber Book’, it was an instant hit and has since expanded to a 2,500-page volume.
CRC is now part of the Taylor & Francis group and has published many key guides and textbooks on a range of topics including marine biology, botany, entomology and ornithology.
